Bob--

Think you will remember me from Cambridge (UK) meeting, 1991. You find

deficit in 2-5 A-depedent RNase in 50% CFIDS. I find 50% of pts.

referred to me as CFIDS have another disorder--no one else in world

screens for these. They are exclusionary criteria. Immune system

hyperactive in CFIDS, depressed in mimicking conditions. Also, have

diagnostic immunologic function panel results (trade marked) for CFIDS.

(positive criteria-this plus BEAM or Spect scan results).

Immune function results and Spect scans seen in 1subset of autistic

syndromes (see our webpage: http://members.aol.com/NITRF)

indistinguishable from CFIDS, and the incidence of CFIDS in mothers (but

not fathers) of autistic spectrum subclass is 18 x that of normal females

matched for age, ethnic origin, number of normal children, and years

education. Would you like me to have pts. send you serum?

As I have told you earlier, antigen-specific Transfer Factor cures these

pts if appropriate TF used. Has no effect on the misdiagnosed 50%. IT

IS AN OLIGORIBONUCLEOTIDE; SOME PTS UNRESPONSIVE TO Ampligen by others -

e.g. Lapp, Cheney - responded to TF (now have it in oral form); there are

probably 3 million different TF's and the exact structure of each is

unknown, but I think all are RICH IN INOSINE. Ampligen has 1 strand

polyinosine. Perhaps normal 2-5 A-dependent RNase is needed for

synthesis of TF? Is this safe to give to people? Incidentally, normal

double stranded RNA was shown by Webb, Werner Braun , et al. at Rutgers,

1973 to be excellent adjuvant. (Webb, later my post-doc, is now VP

research, Alza Corp.)

Are you interested in collaborating on double-blind placebo cross-over

study? If yes, I'll have my collaborator in Philadelphia file with Human

Experimentation committee (Institutional Review Board) at his hospital.

Or I can file one with my Institutional Review Board.

Under separate cover sending you list of the dozen members our multi

disciplinary International Collab. Res. Group on Cognitive Function

Disorders - all Eminent Professors or Emeritus Professors, ranging from

Norway to New Zealand.

Paper on above findings to be submitted Fri. (awaiting figures). Will

send you copy then. My FAX 864-591-0622, office phone 864-591-0944, home

phone 864-587-1458. Is this best E-mail for you? Also, please send

Postal Zip Code, Temple U. School Med.

Sincerely,

Hugh
