Guest guest
Hi Peggy, My thoughts on the low grade fevers (mine has been 99 give or take for almost 5 years now!).......because our immune systems are in a constant state of " hyperdrive " this is a natural response to a perceived " infecton/virus/whatever " that has " triggered " our immune systems to react. I don't know about others, but swollen lymph nodes (helped immensely by Interferon) have also been a big part of the clinical picture for me. I'd be interested to hear other views/opinions as well..... Ann
Guest guest
I don't really know what causes the fevers, but I have noticed that mine seems to go away if I rest a lot and will flare up again if I overdo. They are very uncomfortable.....I used to stand with my head in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator to try to cool down. Guest guest
I get fevers and painful lymph nodes as well and low dose alpha interferon made me feel really ill. Can't remember too much about it- I think may have made me dizzy and nauseous. Imuplus is really helping with fevers/painful lymph nodes. Guest guest
Fevers may be in response to a reactivated virus, such as hhv6. I have active hhv6 and I have fevers. And what helps with the fevers tends to be things that are antiviral (and immunomodulating).
Guest guest
Many CFSers, including myself, have low body temps. Upon waking I am way down around 96,0 to 96.5 LOL Steve > Re: low-grade fevers - why do we have > them? > > From: SWNGDABOAT@... > > Hi Peggy, > My thoughts on the low grade fevers (mine has been 99 give or take for > almost 5 years now!).......because our immune systems are in a constant > state > of " hyperdrive " this is a natural response to a perceived > " infecton/virus/whatever " that has " triggered " our immune systems to > react. > I don't know about others, but swollen lymph nodes (helped immensely by > Interferon) have also been a big part of the clinical picture for me. Oddly, since he is responding to someone who is experiencing fevers from immunocal, imuplus decreases my fevers. Also, the hhv6 thing is only hypothetical in that they don't yet know what role this is playing in cfids. However, it is not hypothetical that a large subset of people with cfids/me do have active hhv6. So, the person who was doctor told her there is no viral reactivation in cfids was misinformed by him. He is just not in the loop. The lab where this is being done, HerpesVirus Diagnostics is very well respected and has never been involved in something controversial before they started testing cfids patients. Noone ever questioned that they were finding, by rapid culture and by pcr on cerebrospinal fluid , active hhv6 in Aids patients and bone marrow transplant receipients. Now, using these same methods, they are finding this active hhv6 in cfids and multiple sclerosis. The doctor at the Cleveland clinic may not know about the availability of this test for hhv6 antigen- he may be just thinking of the test for hhv6 antibody (this is the test just about any physician would have familiarity with), and questioning the usefulness of this antibody testing. Then after that, the gland swelling went down and II dropped to a constant low body temp even on thyroid med. About 10 years into the illness, the FM symptoms started (pain, stiffness, weakness). I did get fevers starting Immunocal, but dropped the dose enough to keep from getting the fevers so I can remain functional (or what I call functional) and am trying to work my dose up slowly without getting the fevers. Not quite to 1/2 pack daily yet! Marcia

I am begining to think the heat from with in is one thing and the chills are a fever. When we overdue we are weaker maybe ? who truly knows, anyone ? Guest guest
Steve, I think one has to judge the symtoms of negative yuckies and positve yuckies and the person themselves have to be the judge of thier own reactions, For me, b12 sublib and it does wake me up and I would have a natural feeling of doing more but again when i do I get into trouble. abx's and herxing is a run for my money but when the period is over i know i feel better, and am capable of doing minor very minor increases, some meds put me in to lalaland and i just don't like that kind of releif. Immunocal took me awhile but i do feel again in my own body that it is a plus, chills did come on and I lowered the dose, and I hope and pray this is not like so many things that just piddle out on me, but i have never reacted this way before. the abx's are fighting something and it seems the immunocal is helping the body to fight also on its own ground forces ? Guest guest
You mentioned things that are antiviral and immunomodulating. What sort of things would these be? Certain foods ?
