SS Bank to Choose and a few others questions about Expenses

Are there some banks (big vs small, local vs national, etc) that are better than

others when selecting a place to open a bank account for the SS account?

If there are fees associated with the bank account, can the SS monies be used

for that?

And what do folks do when a particular vendor/payee for the monthly expenses

does not accept checks? Can you have a debit card associated with the account?

If the parent is the " payee on the account " and responsible for the expenses,

can the individual use the money/pay for an expense when that parent is not

present? How can they use the $ if they are out with another person/PSW/etc?

And are folks setting up a checking and savings account? I read on the SS

website that at the end of a month, any residual must be " saved " in an interest

earning account.

So so sorry for these very basic questions ... just starting this process.

Thankful, but feeling a bit overwhelmed.
