Guest guest
I was at dh's company Christmas party last night, and the subject of the Smallpox vaccine came up. Most of the people at the table didn't even know that the scar on their arm is from the Smallpox vax! Most of them didn't even know that they had it, or that it had been dicontinued in 1972 or so. So when they learned that many of them hadn't had it, they expressed interest in getting it, until I told them that nobody with any history of eczema should get it, that the site must be covered and not touched, and of the horrible pictures I had seen of children who had touched the site and spread the virus to their eyes, etc. I think I may have planted a seed, at least on the smallpox vax. They all commented on how knowledgeable I was (??!!!!), I just told them that I have 2 young children, so had done my research recently on it (kind of like that's what they all should do, KWIM?) Hopefully I got some of them thinking, but it is suprising how little people know about vaccines (and my MIL is getting her flu shot soon AARRGGHHHH! At least the doc didn't give it to her when she went in for her cold last week.) www.ChestnutHillCurlies.com
