We now have a homeopath for our kids but sometimes just for fun I go to a

pediatrician and torture them on the vaccine issue. They are very happy to

see me leave. Just can't help myself sometimes.

Hi,

I joined the list just about a week ago now. My children were vaccinated

until a few years ago, My daughter has not been vaccinated since she was 18

months and ds now 7 has had most of his shots because he went to

kindergarten and I didn't know at that time about exemptions. My dd and ds

are now 6 and 7 and I'd been avoiding taking them to the pediatrician every

year and usually got out of having any vaccinations when we did go by saying

the kids weren't up to it and I'd bring them back just for the shots. Well

the time came that I knew that I needed to be very informed about

vaccination - and here I am! Well right after I joined this list who calls

but the pediatricians office saying we haven't been in sometime and we need

to make an appt. From my experience with our pediatrician in the past I

didn't think he would give us such a hard time as he did. I very much felt

like our family was on trial and not just for not vaccinating but our

parenting style and homeschooling as well (Our pediatrician knew before that

we homeschooled and it was never an issue before) - it was horrible. On the

vaccination issue I didn't even tell him we were totally against it just

that we were reading and learning more about all the pro's and con's and at

this time the children were not getting vaccinations.

I'm wondering now how to go about finding a different pediatrician. Maybe

the kids and I should just find a homeopathic doctor that we can all go

to???

Glad to be a part of this list.

I'm new to the list as well and I am very unknowledgeable on vaccination

issues, but I can tell you that there are pediatricians out there that do

accomodate non-vaccinating families, as well as use herbs, as well as are

pro-homeschoolers, or at least wouldn't give you a hard time. I have two

friends around me that go to two completely different pediatricians and they

are wonderful. One even uses homeopathic remedies, herbs, etc., that I know

of. They both leave the vaccinating up to you without any problems. They

understand. Anyway, they are out there, maybe you should ask around your area

and see what you come up with. At least your insurance would be covered in

that aspect....it's always great to have someone to fall back on that doesn't

give you any problems.

You have my vote for you and your children to find a good homeopath! : )

That's what my kids (11 and 12 yrs.) have done this year. We do have a family

practitioner that we go to for things like sports physicals and such. It's a

big practice that we go to, so, we're never guaranteed to see the same dr.

twice! That kind of helps.

We just went 2 weeks ago for my dd to get her physical to play basketball at

school. I was totally unprepared (thinking we wouldn't be approached about a

tetanus booster for another 2 years.) I was wrong. They matter of factly said

she would get her booster and then we could go. I matter of factly said, no

thank you, not today. So the nurse practitioner said, " ok, you can bring her

back for that another time. " No way! : ) They also said she needed xrays to

rule out scoliosis (they said she has a less than 5% curve). So, again... yeah

sure, whatever you say, just let us leave! So, no Td and no xrays for my girl

as long as I can help it!

Good luck... you've come to the right place for information and support! (and

for recommendations for a good classical homeopath...check out

www.homeopathy-cures.com/html/referrals_to_homepaths.html Look for the ones in

bold print. You can always check with this list, too, and see if anyone has a

personal recommendation... I do! I do! If you can't find a local homeopath!)

: )

Joanna, my last visit was in April and the kids don't go again until April

next year but I can hardly wait! This time I am going to switch pediatricians

to one that is notoriously provax. I can't wait! Why should I document it?

Thank you to everyone who wrote about finding another pediatrician. :)

It's greatly appreciated and I'm looking for another pediatrician and

homeopathic doctor for the family already.
