Schumer spoke at the Rondout Creek waterfront in Kingston on Friday about the possibility that a chemical found in many suncreens causes cancer. Holding a container of sunscreen while speaking in T.R. Gallo Park, Schumer, D-N.Y., called on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to release the results of a study regarding a possible link between retinyl palmitate, a chemical found in about half of all sunscreens, and cancer. Schumer said the research was completed in July 2009 but the FDA has not released the findings.
