The following are answers to both (hey newbie!), and to

Tammy...

Hi !

" Can you tell I'm trying to make you take back the statement below

and say yes Coromega

is going to be your son's miracle cure? :) "

Fish oil is an omega 3 fatty acid or essential fatty acid. They

just seem like miracle cures because of the results, but boil it down

(yuck) and it's just fish oil-no magic (even though my son Dakota who

is six years old does call it " magic fish oil " )

Omega 3 is very important, and there are many children with various

conditions who have had positive results with pure omega 3

supplements like the Coromega or DHA Jr., but for apraxia we are

seeing more dramatic positive results with the mixture of the omega 3

and omega 6 (the omega 6 would be the primrose oil - Efalex or the

borage oil - ProEFA) I had the same problem with gagging (personally-

not Tanner) on Efalex, which is why even though ProEFA doesn't smell

fishy, and Tanner loves it (and also hated Efalex's taste) I've been

such a wimp when it comes to tasting ProEFA. If I were you I would

just use up all the Coromega and watch for positive changes

(breakthroughs) and then at some point try the ProEFA. If your

child really hates it I'll buy it back from you because I believe

it's that good. (the results) Some tips for Efalex that worked for

us with Tanner-just add a drop to dry cereal and then add milk. Put

one drop in between 2 pancakes with maple syrup on top. Put one drop

into spaghetti and meatball dish-stir up so it's kind of in middle.

Put one drop onto the bread of sandwich (somewhere in the

middle)...do you get the point? That's how we supplemented Tanner

for the first year just about-we sometimes got away with 2 drops, but

if he smelled the fish oil, or tasted it at all he would spit the

food out and push the food away. We tried every type of drink from

lemonade to soda to shakes-drinks didn't work for us, and neither did

the chocolate syrup/fish oil on a tablespoon. We had amazing results

with Efalex too, but it was never easy, not like now with ProEFA.

(and within 1 week to 3 months on ProEFA were the three latest

breakthroughs-his recent reports from school and private therapist

are amazing!) So, in spite of any struggles, the results were

golden, and worth it. (Just listen to him at the talking page now!!

Hi Tammy!

" 1.) What would the dosage be for a 2.5 yr. old, 26 pounds? "

There is no dosage for fish oil that is regulated which is why it's

great there is ongoing research. Anytime or anything you feed your

child is what you made a choice to supplement your child with, you

just don't think about it that much unless it's stuck in a capsule.

(Would anyone take french fry oil capsules?) Unless you are one of

the few like that only feeds your child all natural and organic

foods, then stop and read the labels of what you have already decided

is OK to supplement your child with. Again, fish oil can be added to

the diet naturally, but you would want to use fish high in omega 3

like sardines, and the sardine because sardines are small. The

larger the fish, the larger the chance of high levels of mercury and

other bad stuff from pollution. Rhonda from Canada suggested

sardines with ketchup (and she's inviting us all over for dinner)

" Does the child have to stay on supplements forever? "

No, but depending when you choose to stop will be the question.

Again, fish oil is healthy for you. When we stopped supplementing

Tanner we noticed he didn't progress as quickly, his therapist

said " he's a different child. " and he cried from frustration for the

first time. Once he was put back on the progression went quickly

again. Before supplements he had tons of therapy, just like many

other children who start to talk for the first time once

supplemented. You can choose to exercise or not, you can choose to

eat healthy or not, it's all a choice-but just research yourself so

you can make educated choices. Again, fish oil capsules, (EFA, DHA,

LCP, ETC.) are NOT drugs-they are fish oil food supplements.

Tanner has been on fish oil supplements for just over a year and a

half, and both of my children ask for them now. From what I am

hearing, this is not unusual. I used to have a great

memory which I lost some of after pregnancies. I would forget

important things like who is the voice in the animated cartoon, or

who is the actress on that sit com-stuff that used to drive me nuts! My husband

and I supplement now too, and I've noticed an increase in memory! (it's such a

great feeling!)

Just in case you will have supplementation going on for a few years

at least though is the reason to be sure of purity. The reason we

say to use reputable companies for supplements is because you want a

product that is third person tested like ProEFA, for purity from PCB

mercury etc. If our world wasn't polluted you could probably just

feed your child more tuna fish, which is more acceptable to most

children than sardines or fish oil capsules. Because of pollution,

in some cases fish oil supplements that are tested pure are better

than " real " fish because supplements can be tested for purity. In

the TV show 20/20, they showed how a child that ate tunafish a few

times a week had mercury levels 3 times higher than the sister who

hated tuna fish and never ate it. Once the mother stopped feeding

tuna fish to the one child, the mercury level in the child's blood

went back to normal, where his sister's level already was. You can

order the segment from ABC for about $75! (and I thought Inside

Edition was high) All that information with links is at our website

http://www.apraxia.cc look under index.

(Speaking of which, we are redesigning the website-any suggestions?)

Please take all this information from me and check it out, I did.

I'm just a mom too, but so much information is available online, and

from reputable sources. If you find out anything different please

let all of us know. . Just because your pediatrician is not

knowledgeable about the benefits of omega 3 or omega 6 does not make

them bad, but you can share reputable information with him or her if

you are waiting for that green light before proceeding. I just

posted about Dr. Stoll's new book for example, he may have

some suggestions/information in there. The LCP Solution has

suggestions/information as well-and stories about EFA supplementation

and apraxia.

Best,
