Guest guest
It is very rare that I am ever deeply offended or take anything this personally on this board. My autistic son was never interested in watching anything but sports on TV. Some of these kids are too low functioning to even know what a TV is! Yet from 1991, when my son was diagnosed, to 2001 autism diagnoses increased 1500%. No, I don't believe The Simpsons or Beavis and Butt Head are responsible! No one teaches us how to be parents and certainly not to physically or mentally challenged special needs kids. Raising an autistic son to become the highly funtioning, self reliant, responsible member of society and community, who approaches doctors to discuss nutrition for autistic kids like himself,. has been the most difficult challenge of my life! Yes, even more so than beating the #2 killing cancer in the US! I walked step for step with him, shed tear for tear with him and had to fight for every single right this shild was ever entitled to! Do you know who took care of me, raised my daughters and took over 110% of all my responsibilities when I was fighting for my life? My autistic son, that's who! That is not easy for a normal adult, much less an 18 y.o. autistic boy! Do you know what my son is doing today? The same thing he has done in mid February every year since he was 2. He is watching the Daytona 500 NASCAR race on TV. Last night it was a Detroit Red Wings hockey game. Next week it will be the Detroit Tigers spring training in Lakeland. Of course, the Detroit Pistons are still playing too! He and I have had our own Super Bowl party every year since he was quite young. This year my team won! I know your comment was not intended to offend me personally. I make no apologies, however, that it did. I will get over it though! No damage done to our friendship on this board. Guest guest
Hi ; I have four undenatured wheys and a description of what components in undenatured whey contributes how much bonded cysteine, on my website; you can find it by Goooogling undenatured whey duncan crow. I have a huge reference section on another page, and as I was sasying these products have been used on their own to shrink cancer too. A lot of things boil down to low antioxidant pool, and all the antioxidants work together, with glutathione being the master antioxidant that recycles them. (answering your juicing questions in another thread) Anyway, using the description as a guide you can find a comparable product. Selenium doesn't come with the undenatured whey but it's pretty cheap at the health shop or box store. For adults with health issues 400-600 mcg selenium per day and 70 grams of undenatured whey is ballpark, but both could be doubled without risk. 1100 mcg selenium has been used to drop tumours and viral load, and 3200 mcg selenium for a year in adults only produced temporary deformed fingernails. No reason to push it that high though. Guest guest
Did anyone catch the segment on 60 minutes last night on autism? One mother had two definite and probably a third autistic child. They said that the earlier you catch it and treat it the better the chances are for success. Guest guest
, Bravo! I couldn't agree with you more... As a mother of 2 sons with autism(ages 18 & 26) I cam assure you that my sons have never watched programs like Beavis & Butthead... Both sons have always loved music....My older son loves classical and my younger soft rock-easy listening .. ....Youngest son spends lots of time studying ancient civilizations while oldest son loves to write numbers and words endlessly--accumulating volumes....No one knows why he does it..all we know is that it calms him. I spent my Sat. opening a social and recreational group for adults with autism at the local YMCA. Seems like parents spend years advocating for their child--What many parents of young ones fail to realize is that our loved ones with autism are adults longer then they are children. After age 21---that's it!!! We have to develop programs for the adults population --We should not clump them together with the mentally ill or mentally retarded!!! After my husband suddenly died 11 years ago, my entire waking moments have been to prepare for my sons future. I live and breathe autism....I have no choice.... My biggest concern is what will happen to my sons after I am gone??? I cannot afford to get sick or die. As a result, I now eat and prepare 100% whole foods and take lots of supplements...One reason I joined this group was to learn how I could improve the entire family's diet. I am happy to say I am very healthy now and my son's behavior's have improved as well. Debbie(Pa)
Guest guest
fyi, brazil nuts are one of the highest sources of naturally occuring selenium, which may have much greater bioavailabilty than the chemically burned and powered lab manufactured variety. i just checked and one level scoop of my nutritional yeast flakes contain thirty percent of the rda. smiles. best to all Re: Re: OT - autism and diet Hi ; I have four undenatured wheys and a description of what components in undenatured whey contributes how much bonded cysteine, on my website; you can find it by Goooogling undenatured whey duncan crow. Both of my sons are extremely bright and I have never had a discipline problem with either. I give some of the credit to " The Simpsons " -- especially Homer with his words of wisdom. Debbie(Pa) dear debbie i know you were responding to renee, but i just wanted you to know how much you post, and others like this, mean to me. i live a life of relative luxury where most of my needs are excessivley met and i am totally stress and worry free, so when i read a post such as this, it gives me pause, to stop and think, about you, and your sacrifices, and what you have been through. this heartens and strengthens me, and widen my viewpoint, so please, anything you care to share about your two wonderful sons, please post it, as it helps be get out of my little self indulgent world, and in a small way, enter yours. just as reness is my hero, you are two, for i was blessed with three perfect sons, and ignorantly take such things for granted. one thought that came to mind as i read your message, was your son who writes numbers for hours at a time as a calmative practice. is there any way that can be directed? i do the same thing, as a matter of fact, its my life...except i write letters, in novel format. you see my drift, i am sure. also, it distressed me somwhat to hear you express concern about what will happen to them when you die. surely there are others who have faced this same question, so isn't there some sort of at large organization, devoted to find follow on support, in such cases? and if not an organization that suits your tastes, would it be reasonable to suggest launching a personal search of your own, to find interested parties of a philanthropic nature who might take on such a task, honorably? again, this simply displays my abysmal ignorance on the subject, but i am trying to learn. smiles. take care andy
