This being the first post I've read in this group I am unsure of whether

what you posted is in theme or very unusual in this group. I am also no

expert in Cancer or medicine in general. Rather a noob when it comes to

oncology. I do know that cancer has an almost plague like mortality

associated with it depsite the fact that conventional medicine if caught

early enough can cure many forms. I also have seen cancer after cancer turn

out to be linked with viruses. One thing though I am certain of is that

cancer covers many different illnesses that have only one thing in common.

The bodies wiring goes haywire and turns against itself. We are still very

much in the dark ages when it comes to cancer research. Though the

imunization against Paplona is a huge bright sign. If an imunization for

that can exist so too can imunizations for other cancer causing viruses.

That however doesn't cover every type of cancer, at least as far as we can

tell. It may turn out that a whole load of stuff we thought were carcinigens

were actually only additive effects upon an animal who was infected with a

specific virus at one time. Like I said it's apparently very much in the

dark ages.

Now on to specifics. You claim that the FDA is in the pockets of big biz.

Rather believable claim because of the way our gov operates today. Europe

seems to have a bit different system going on. It is possible the drug

companies have strong influence on European research and orgs similer to the

FDA. I tend to take comfort that the Europeans and FDA occasionally conflict

on things. At least there is some semblence of independent research going on

between them. I completely disreguard the FDA's dietary recomendations. They

are like a pole axed rabbit. This is good, then it's bad then it's good

again. The research is so shoddy that when it comes to diet you have no real

help from the FDA. Too much bad info to trust anything that comes from them

on diet. The second hand smoke studies were laughable. Made the dietary

research seem solid.

Medical research funding is a political game in the US today. Much of it

done by people with strong vested interests in the outcome. So the results

of studies have become less and less credible as this entrenchment has

grown. What is availible is scientific tools and methods. Those are

availible too all. In some cases the specialized equiptment is very

expensive. In others a determined group could easily create an objective

scientific study. Why are studies important? Well sometimes life is not as

strait forward as it seems. There are numerous incidents of people's

parachutes not opening or people falling off a mountain and surviving. I

wouldn't however attempt it willingly Common sense tells you if you jump

from high enough it's going to kill you. Yet there is proof that this is not

%100 so. If you only knew 3 people who'd jumped out of an airplane and one

of those 3 survived there are many rationalizations that can take place to

make this person's miraculous survival seem reasonable. To fit within our

knowledge of the world and make something a little less scary. That is the

danger of logic, it can be bent to the weilders will.

As for the specific age of the kid in question. 16 is old enough to make a

choice such as whether to undergoe a specific medical treatment. Chemo is no

fun and if the odds of survival are low enough why go through the torture?

A four year old is a different story. They are not old enough to make

decisions for themselves. Much of " herbal " remedys and homopathy is pure

snake oil. Which have valid points and which are purely pyschosomatic is

anybodies guess. The entrenched medical comunity is very slow to make

changes. Experimentation often kills patients so few Docs are willing to

take chances. Standard of care is a lifeline most cling too so as to avoid

killing as few patients as possible. Doctors are human beings and they have

a huge weight on thier shoulders. They make a mistake and irreparable damage

or death can result. They are trained to follow procedure. Many of which are

not the best approach to a condition/illness but they work better than

anything else tried so far. So following the oath of do no harm they give

the patient the best treatment they know how and rely on researchers to

discover better ways of doing things. Would you seriously want your Doc to

experiement on you? I can just picture the Doc saying (In a heavy Southern

drawl) " Let's see here. You say your appendix hurts. Might be we try a

little lemon oil rather than make you go through all the discomfort of an

operation. I hear lemon oil works sometimes with appendicitus " Anyway you

get the idea. Doctors believe what they are doing is right. They are happy

to change what they are doing if somebody shows them a better way. At least

most Docs. There are some so stuck in thier ways an incapable of new

learning that they might still have leaches about the office somewhere

Doc's to practice ARE required to have extensive updated training. Much of

this is an excuse to travel but most Doc's I've known do a tremendous amount

of reading and conversing with each other about new treatments. I am 40 and

have seen dramatic changes in a visit to a Doctor's office in just my

lifetime. Folks in thier 80s might not recogonize a Doc's office today

compared to how it was when they were children. So traditional medicine does

change and is in a constant state of flux. Takes time to disemminate new

research and for it to be accepted. Especially if it goes against the grain

of what they have been taught and have been doing. This is natural. There is

great resistance to change in established orders of any type. Medicine is no

different.

To me it seems like another case of letter of the law. The kid was a " minor "

though 16 is hardly incompentent to make a decision for yourself. So by the

letter of the law this kid is no different than a 2 year old. I absolutely

hate enforcement by the letter rather than the spirit of a law. 99 times out

of a 100 enforcement of the letter will pervert a law/rule/standard often to

the point that it aggravates the problem(s) it was designed to solve. Most

rules/standards/laws are also built in with a certain margion which when

applied strictly and literally will produce comical and tragic results.

As for the cure that you are in favor of. I personally would not risk my

life just because you say it's good. Even if I found 100 people on the net

swearing by it. That's a lot of hear say. I can find 100 people that swear

Santa Claus not only really exists, he gave them a lump of coal personally

at least one year. I can also find 100 people who swear Santa is an Alien

and that all the gifts are really alien monitoring devices. Instead I would

be organizing a real study. You don't have to be the AMA to do a scientific

study. You need volenteers, you need carefull tracking and examination of

the data. You also need to be open enough to accept if the assumption is

wrong. What if your wrong? If one single person follows your advice and dies

from it you have killed them as surely as if you put a gun up to thier head

and pulled the trigger. There are a number of industries which would stand

to benifit financially if a cure of some sort or even something that helped

existed. So finding funding to do a real study IS possible. If you do it

rigeriously enough and with enough controls then the AMA might scoff but the

media will take you serious. When it does that will force 'official " studies

to refute or confirm. Many scientific studies faced extreme scorn when first

introduced. However after a time plain facts made an arguement nobody could

assail. You offer only opinion, no facts, no studies. You offer personal

experience. However remission happens. No explanation. You see it in

religious groups, in hompathy groups and in conventional treatment. We

understand so little that we have no clue as to why it's in remission,

whether or how long it will stay that way. We just don't know. A real study

even if it refuted a cherished cure might point to the real one. It might

not be a botanical substance but a dailly habit. It might be that something

in twinkies turns out to be the real cure. Might be just getting away from

the agents that are agravating the condition is enough combined with

willpower and the bodies own defenses. We don't know. We CAN know. To not

pursue such if you honestly believe in a cure is to kill thousands by your

own actions. Shouting till you are hoarse helps no one. So my suggestion

was to seek out like minded people and start campaigning for funding to find

out just how real what you desribe is. Until you do that you do a diservice

to all. If your wrong you could kill people. If you are right then help is

sitting under our noses and thousands die needlessly. By not pursueing proof

you are just as much an agent of death as the cancer itself. I'd be happy

to donate my time setting up technical aspects of any study you did. IT is

my specialty. I can create and maintain the databases, deal with the

networking and network security. I don't want to waste my time doing so if

there is no reason to believe that what you claim is true.

In short, less talk and more do.

Hopefully I havn't offended too many here. No idea what the prevailing

thought is. However I've always believed that doing beats talk any day. If

there is a solution and it's practical lets do it. Doesn't matter what

people think about you. Doesn't matter if it's been done before. Is it

doable and is it worth doing. Those are the only meaningfull questions in

most situations. Please feel free to contact me to setup the hardware and

Rick, my ancestors fought with Washington and in every other war through

Vietnam. This is MY country and I am damned well unhappy with the way it is

going! DON'T tell me to leave just because I (and many others) do not rollover

and drink the purple Kool-aid.

We are losing more of our rights every day. Washington is bought and paid for

by corporations. Drug companies pay huge amounts of money to their lobbyists.

Are you following the Abramoff scandal? It is the tip of the iceberg. Who

makes the radiation treatment machines and many of the other medical equipment?

GE is a huge world wide corporation and many leaders were in bed with Jack

Welch.

I am going through treatment for breast cancer! Obviously, I have been seeing a

lot of doctors. Everyone of them has told me the American medical system is on

the verge of complete collapse. There is general agreement among all of them

that the HRT drugs that I took were the major cause of my breast cancer. HRT

was/is a failed experiment and millions of women were the guinea pigs!

Our food is produced by corporate farms. Factory produced meat, milk, and eggs

are food in name only. Livestock is kept in such close confinement and fed so

much crap that they need drugs to stay alive. Growth hormones and feed

containing antibiotics for rapid growth and heavy milk production are a routine

part. Little girls are reaching puberty years before they should. Little boys

have smaller than normal testicle. Farm workers become ill from exposure to the

dangerous chemicals that are used for pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.

This is what we eat and drink. Go into an agriculture supply store and read the

labels on the products.

The same people that make us sick are the ones that make drugs, medical

equipment and medical treatment to treat the diseases that we get from ........
