Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the most common respiratory virus in

infants and young children. In most infants, the virus causes symptoms

resembling those of the common cold. However, in infants born prematurely or

with chronic lung disease, RSV can be a severe and even life-threatening

disease. Families with limited financial resources and limited access to

prenatal care are at the highest risk for premature births and, as a result,

RSV.

Infants may be treated for RSV, or the prevention of RSV, in the physician

office, hospital outpatient, or hospital inpatient setting, depending on the

severity of illness.

Patient access issues often exist, particularly for working families that

have insurance but limited incomes. Such insurance polices are more likely to

have high co-insurance requirements. It is families like these that will

receive assistance through the Patient Access Network Foundation.

If you would like more information about help available for RSV prevention

and treatment, or would like to apply for treatment assistance with the Patient
