Guest guest
Hi everyone... I'm here to ask for your collective expertise on something that came up today when I took for his 1st hearing eval. since the one he had when he was born. The audiologist told me that his right ear was very full of wax (that's easy enough to fix, I suppose) so that she wasn't able to get a view of the ear drum. The left had some wax, but not as much. We have an appt. with the pediatrician next week for flu shots anyway, so will have them check that out then. She also suggested we go see and ENT as well - she prefers that they manage the wax thing rather than the pediatricians.... She tried to do the tympanography (I think that's what it's called) Mr. was not too cooperative with it, but she said there is movement of the left ear drum, but not as much as she'd like, and there was almost none in the right ear. She said it could be from the wax in front or from fluid behind. BUT - good news is that when we did the test with the nerve oscillator (sounds so ominous! lol ) that he was hearing in a normal range - so the nerves are fine. SO, after all that, here is my question for you all - What do they do about the fluid? Is it always just the tubes or are there other ways to treat? What have your experiences been? I know I should wait and ask the ENT all this, but I would like to have something to back up on my side whatever they tell me - I know you all understand. } I would take the time to do the internet search thing, but am exhausted and nauseous today.... That would be from the new baby we are expecting in April (not to mention the 2 boys already here).... This one did not get the memo yet that we are into the 2nd trimester and it should quit making me feel yucky! LOL Thank you all in advance!
