Guest guest
Every state is REQUIRED and FUNDED by federal law to supply a parent training and info center to support families trying to receive services from public education. You can find your state's contact information by going below...I'm on the board of Tennessee's and know they do an absolutely outstanding job of supporting families. (Georgia, not so good, but they've lost their grant because of it, so hopefully their new PTI will be better soon.) Each state can call their PTI whatever they want, so they are all called something different...this link will tell you how to find your state's organization. Go to http://www.taalliance.org/centers/index.htm Parent Training and Information Centers andCommunity Parent Resource Centers Each state is home to at least one parent center. Parent centers serve families of children and young adults from birth to age 22 with all disabilities: physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning. They help families obtain appropriate education and services for their children with disabilities; work to improve education results for all children; train and inform parents and professionals on a variety of topics; resolve problems between families and schools or other agencies; and connect children with disabilities to community resources that address their needs.
