Guest guest
Ok, guys I need some help. We live in oklahoma, and our daughter Ali (Ds) is about to turn 3 next month. We just had our second meeting with the school yesterday, and I wasn't very comfortable with how it went. It was suggested to us that we get an advocate, besides ourselves, that would be with us at the meetings and know the laws (better than us). The problem is I don't know who to contact or where to start to find an advocate that could do that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you. Guest guest
Here in Indiana we have a group called InSource. Did you look in the information packet the school is required to give you that outlines your rights? There should be a listing toward the back. Or contact your states Family & Social Services and they should be able to direct you to the right group. Another idea would be to contact your local Ds support group - they will probably have the info for your state organization. If no local Ds group, how about ARC or other disability group? Guest guest
Might find something on this list. http://www.nichcy.org/stateshe/ok.htm Every state should have an advocacy group, probably divided into regions. Assume you know about www.wrightslaw.com Mindy
