Speaking of two stories, we've been house hunting for a bigger home,

justlooking, nothing serious, and the question of having a two story over one

level has come up on numerous occasions.....when the realtor even begins to

mention two story, my radar goes up......the houses here in TX, although the

stairs aren't the thing that bothers me, sometimes have these balconies once

you reach the top of the stairs!!! Even though 's little, who's to say

he couldn't get up during the night and push a chair, climb on it and JUMP

down!!! DH says oh, he wouldn't do that.....oh no??? You always have to

think ahead with our kids, they are always up to something. Putting a gate

up at the top of the stairs is one thing, but you can't close off a balcony

that gives you a bird's eye view of the main level! I almost got dizzy at

that height just trying to imagine falling over!

Ranch home for us only.

I went to a home showcase (you know one of those open house things where all

the builders show off the new houses). I just cringed looking at some of

those lofts. All the open railing area looking over vaulted entries and

family rooms. Yikes.

I know Karyn!! My brother and his wife have a townhouse with all that open

loft stuff. Needless to say, they have no children yet AND visiting them

with Miss Maddie is incredibly stressful!!!!

my parents rented some condos for our whole family to spend a weekend

snowmobiling and 's respite fell through (this was pre-baby). We went

and took along. We walk into the condo and the bedroom are upstairs and

you have to pass the loft part to get to them. I don't think I slept all

night even with the motion detector on.
