Guest guest
Yesterday was the annual Special Olympics Golf Tournament...the one that I wrote about in the chapter 12 story 'Who's Winning' in the new book, "Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives' I autographed the books and gave them to the Golf Pro, The Parent Coordinators of the Program and the Local Special Olympics administrators. They wanted to stop the rest of the presentation and read the story right on the spot! (Actually, the Special Olympics director, did step back and read the first part, but then realized she had to be a part of the 'thank you's' at the end of the medals ceremony) All of the 'profits' from this book will be going directly to provide free copies to OB/GYN's across this country. The DSA of Orange County California is going to be giving copies in the new parent baskets and to parents with a prental diagnosis!! Encourage your local chapter to do the same, and know that when you buy your own copies the money will be going into more books...the POSITIVE word about parenting our kids, challenging as they can be...has given us more fulfilled lives...and heck, a lot of great stories to tell! , Mom to 13, DS, Southern CaliforniaTo succeed in life, you need three things:a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.~ Reba McIntyre Diagnosis Down Syndrome: A Site of Hope for New Parents or Parents with a Prenatal Diagnosishttp://www.leeworks.net/DDS/What to Say to Parents of a Child with a Diagnosishttp://www.leeworks.net/DDS/speech.html
