Guest guest
Hi Veronika, I'll get back to this later, Lord willing. I have Kent Macleod's book . . . QadoshyahGot Down Syndrome?www.gotdownsyndrome.netBlog: http://gotdownsyndrome.blogspot.com Wellness Hospital/Nutri-chem/Kent MacLeod I was given an article about Kent MacLeod and the Wellness Hospital and Nutri-Chem. He has written a book called Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy:Unlocking the Secrets of Improved Health Behaviour and Intelligence (Kemanso Publishing Inc.) - it is sold on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Down-Syndrome-Vitamin-Therapy-MacLeod/dp/0973433701/ref=sr_1_1/002-9738793-5370463?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1176350333 & sr=8-1 (I just copied the address). Does anyone know more information about this. I think it is based in Ottawa, Canada. It says that he has spent the last 20+ years research and his book in each chapter leads with a real-life example of an issue he's encountered among Down Syndrome. Guest guest
A little history: Dixie Lawrence, founder of TNI, orginially worked with Nutri Chem and Kent MacLeod, who first produced the formula in Canada. Evidently, he made changes without the approval of the oversight board, and some kids reacted negatively. Dixie and the board then asked Rob of International Nutrition to produce Nutrivene -D. It became available in May/June of '95. (Ironically, Rob then had Kate, his daughter with DS a year later.) So, Nutri-Chem is another formula for TNI, although I have heard (don't know for sure) that it is more expensive. Still, his info may be valuable. Guest guest
We have our son on Nutrivene, not MSB+ (which really is inexplicably much more expensive than NVD), and in spite of the unsavoury details about the beginnings of TNI, the book makes very good reading for those interested in the metabolic disturbances in DS. I believe that everybody using TNI should have a copy in their bookshelf for reference purposes. Guest guest
Veronika, I bought Macleod's book and it is a good book, packed full with lots of information. I do not agree with MSB Plus/Nutrichem's formula. It started out with Dixie Lawrence, but they soon split ways and Nutrichem went away from the regular, TRI approved formulas. They do not get much back-up by some professionals, because of that. Also, there are things in their formula which are not good for those with DS, particularly because these nutrients/supplements have been shown to not be good for someone with DS, unless absolutely needed. I can get more detailed if anyone is interested.
