Austin tells them all the time. They never make much sense, like...Knock

knock,

who's there? ummmm(with finger on his chin thinking), he!(with finger now

straight in the air pointing to the roof) mommy, daddy, and kota, " mommy,

daddy and kota who? " Blabady, blabady, blabady...repeats mommy, etc, then

slaps his knee laughing. and saw this action in PA. He cracks

me up.

We are totally into a knock-knock phase with both kids...it is too funny.

The Olive and Boo jokes are 's favorites!

Totally unrelated...we had 's bumper bowling party this past

weekend...18 kids...what was I thinking! The kids did have a blast though.

's first time up he bowled a strike and turned around to take several

dramatic bows while saying, " thank you, thank you... " It was too funny.

And no, of course I didn't have the video camera on!

When was in school but quite young yet, he asked me one day

why the chicken crossed the road. I answered -to get to the other side. He

was so mad, he thought it was a new riddle. His answer was " because of the

other end " , which really makes sense.

egg.........He'll have every reason for his answer and you will stand there

smiling :)

We love knock-knock jokes around here too. tries to tell them

like her big sister, and her favorite usually goes like this:

Knock knock

(who's there?)

Bananna

then while you are saying " Bananna who? " ,she starts laughing hysterically

and slapping her legs (knees?)

Of course, it is incredibly cute, and she always gets the other person

laughing as well, so with all the positive reinforcement, she'll never get

to the " orange " part :-)

I'm glad to hear this.....because I tried telling Mav some knock knock Jokes

yesterday and it backfired.

He didn't get the Olive one,,,but it helped him learn to do the Knock knock

joke pattern.

I did the dwayne the battub....but he just laughed at me when I plugged my

nose and talked...

When I tried the boo who one....he said... " I'm not crying! I'm not a baby!

You're a sugar mama! " .

So, he's not ready for verbal jokes yet..... but we'll keep working on it.

<<He didn't get the Olive one>>

There are many that Ted wouldn't get...this being one of them...I don't even

think that explaining or showing him what an olive is would help. I don't think

he can grasp the play on words how one sort of sounds like what you finish it

as. But I think he likes the idea of telling a joke. hehe He knows the format

and I think he likes the back and forth activity.

When my daughter (non-ds) was little she was at the jabbering stage,

not many words. She would jabber a bit and then Laugh. We finally figured

out she was telling jokes. It was really funny. Luckily she finally

learned to talk. And then didn't stop for years!

Yes,,,,he says it frequently.

All of a sudden now,,,he really also gets the concept of LOVE and he is

always saying, " Mom? " " Yes? " " I love you. " ...and then I turn to him and he

has his lips puckered up waiting for a kiss. But sugar mama is a big one...

I hear it alot when he is teasing me, which is often. LOL He DOES have a

great sense of humor, even if he DOESN'T get the knock-knock jokes.

I wouldn't say he isn't ready for this yet! Last night we went to bed

telling a few...I had to tell all the new ones I learned....love the

mosquito one but Ted would hardly let me tell TWO in a row...he knows the

pattern for turn taking. Which BTW, when we play the memory game where you

turn over cards looking for matches...Ted doesn't like to take an extra turn

when he makes a match.

I love the sugar mama part!

Sounds like Ted has his priorities straight! LOL! I could hear saying

the same thing while eating chicken fingers, which he would eat for every

meal, every day, if he could!

Ariana told this joke in Kindergarten for parent night. Of course no

held up.
