Guest guest
well I just spoke with the OT. She has reported them also but this was for slapping a child!!! The supervisors said she knew of no other reports against these people, what a LIE! Now, I'm really mad. Di update, need an answer quickly... Hi! You may not agree with my opinion (which is completely fine) but I think you have to give them a chance to fix the problem. Advocate on Nic's behalf but be careful not to burn your bridges. While I don't agree with educators yelling at children, I think everyone on this list was yelled at by a teacher or witnessed the behavior against another student. On the continuum of wrong behaviors exhibited by educators it towards the low end. In the case of the aide, it's a fixable problem. Had the offense been physical abuse I would not have the same opinion. I would let the school know that you are going to monitor the situation closely and if any type of abuse occurs you will call CPS and also investigate legal action against the school for not adequately protecting your child. Take Care, Kent He called back and said he is confident that there will be no more yelling. I said I will then call an IEP to have his placement changed and he said Nic's placement will not be changed. I said why and he said there is no reason to change it. I asked if verbal abuse was not a good enough reason and he said the problem has been rectified. OMG I am soo mad! What do I do now? Guest guest
Also, isn't placement determined by the TEAM? How can he just verbally tell me there's no way Nic will have a change in placement? Di ----- Original Message -----

I agree with this but would make sure that I said all this in the form of a follow up letter per your conversation with the supervisor - in the letter I would document basically what has occurred and that you requested an IEP meeting to discuss placement, but that were TOLD there would be NO PLACEMENT CHANGES made. Also that you would agree to a trial basis with the stipulation that there is absolutely no reoccurence. Be sure to include the words " verbal abuse " . And I would try to say it all nicely and in as professional a manner as possible Good luck - you're in my thoughts. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Yes Di, Placement is determined by the team and you are a member of that team. They should NOT be having meetings to discuss anything about your child without you present. Elaine Re: update, need an answer quickly... > Also, isn't placement determined by the TEAM?
