Laurie –

This is from IARF and their Push for Access link and site itself is a very good

resource for families. IARF advocates for community based services, their

offices are in Springfield, and they have a lot of insight into the happenings

in the legislature.

Thanks.

RE: Veto Session Grassroots Advocacy

This morning the Association distributed an Advocacy Alert through our IARF

Grassroots Action Center and Push for Access network. The purpose of this alert

is to provide a grassroots push to the General Assembly during the Fall Veto

Session to address shortfalls in the FY12 budget for community services, as well

as drive support for a borrowing plan to pay the backlog of unpaid bills owed to

community providers. We ask that you encourage your staff and local networks to

participate in these efforts. You can use either link below to share with your

staff and/or networks:

IARF Grassroots Advocacy Alert

Push for Access Alert

In addition to this grassroots exercise, Association staff will be sharing a one

page position paper with legislators and staff during the Veto Session. Once

this is finalized, we will be sharing this document with each of you, and ask

that you share it with your legislators as well. We will send this position

paper as a word document so that you can edit to include agency specific

information.

As we’ve done in the past, we’ll continue to provide you with Legislative

Updates during the Fall Veto Session. In addition, should you have any

questions, please contact Josh (jevans@...) or Cyrus Winnett

(cwinnett@...) at 217-753-1190.
