Guest guest
Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day. Hope to see many of you as we celebrate the opening of this brand new " inclusive " playground. Mothers on a Mission, Inc. Invites you to: The Grand Opening Celebration of Mothers on a Mission Playground Saturday, October 22nd 2011 10:00 a.m. More than 200 volunteers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, the North Berwyn Park District, The Berwyn Development Corporation, Mothers on a Mission, Inc., the City of Berwyn, 7th Ward Alderman Avila, organizers from KaBOOM! and residents of the local community joined forces on Saturday, October 8th to build the new playground at Berwyn Gardens, north of 22nd Street between Grove Avenue and Kenilworth Ave in Berwyn. The new playground, named Mothers on a Mission Playground, was fully assembled in less than 6 hours. The playground's design was based on drawings created by children who participated in a Design Day event in August and was done with children of " all " abilities in mind. This " all inclusive " playground is very special to the community as it has unique play equipment accessible to children in wheelchairs as well as various sensory boards for fun learning. The new playground will provide thousands of children in Berwyn, and surrounding communities, with a safe place to play " together " . The playground is receiving some finishing touches this week, including the " poured in place " rubber surface, a wheelchair ramp, fencing and the installation of art work created by the community. The Grand Opening is scheduled to happen on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Mothers on a Mission, Inc. is asking for our community of disability service providers to turn out in number to recognize and show our appreciation to Mayor J. Lovero, Executive Director ph Vallez, Alderman Avila and Alderman Cesar Santoy for hearing our voice and request to build an inclusive playground for " all " our children! For more information or to RSVP please call Bedard at 708-217-3196 or Anita at 773-343-4290.
