Guest guest
FYI Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Aetna Better Health - Update- Psychotropic Medication Our members and advocates spoke ..we listened. To ensure continuation of psychotropic medications for our members, we have revised our prescription-refill procedure to avoid disruption of medication. The procedure applies to: Ø Psychotropic medications only Ø Refills for the medication (does not apply for a new prescription) Ø Members who are beyond their 90 day transition of care period Ø Instances when Prior Authorization is unable to be obtained by the pharmacy Ø A one-time only over ride per medication Ø A prescription filled at an in-network pharmacy For psychotropic medications that require prior authorization: in the event a member presents at the pharmacy for their refill and prior authorization is unable to be obtained, the member will not be turned away. Instead, the pharmacist will reach out to Aetna Better Health and request an override to fill the prescription for 30 days. This will allow the member to secure their psychotropic medication in hand at that time. The Psychiatrist will then be notified by the pharmacy of the need for a Prior Authorization well in advance of the 30 days.
