Hi Imogene. She is taking it for Bipolar. She had gotten to the point of not

having mania, anxiety or OCD with the combo of Geodon and Paxil, but she is

still having problems with the depressive cycle, which is interfering a lot

with her functioning. I am hoping the combination of the 3 will finally give

her a break and allow her to function well and fully attend school again.

Thanks for the information. Kim

Lamictal is an anticonvulsant class drug developed for epilepsy. Its used

off label for mood disorders, especially bipolar depression. Probably for other

things too. I have many friends who take it for bipolar disorder. It heals

the mood cycles from the bottom up, that is to say, brings up the depressions

more than it brings down the too high moods.

Why is your daughter taking it? I even took it for a while but developed a

rash. There is potentially a serious rash (s ). My rash was

benign. My friends are having great success with this drug.

Why is your daughter taking it? OCD? Bipolar? Depression?

Hi Kim,

Yes, my son (15) started it a few months ago. He had an abnormal EEG that showed

some kind of seizure activity during sleep. He started on a very low dose and

gradually increased it to 200 mg/day. He has done very well on it. From

practically the first day, he said it made him feel better . He has had a

generally positive outlook and things don't get him down so much. I know it is

used for epilepsy, but also as a mood stabilizer. I suspect that it has really

helped him most as a mood stabilizer.

Good luck with it,

Sinead

Lamictal

My daughter is starting Lamictal tomorrow. Does anyone have any good or bad

experience with this? She is also on 180 mg of Geodon and 40 mg of Paxil.

Thanks. Kim

I'm on it, more for my bipolar. I'm not sure it's helped my OCD. I really

don't have side effects. I take my whole dose at bedtime. I once tried to

split it and take some in the AM, but I did get drowsy.

management.

Thank you.
