Revised 11-04-11 Children’s Home + Aid Position Description Position Title: 09 - 19 / Membership Engagement and Development Manager -Illinois Partners for Human Service Classification: Exempt Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating and implementing two of the organization’s essential functions: member engagement/recruitment/retention and fundraising. Serves as the primary liaison to the membership in order to build engagement, to facilitate service to our member network, and will also be responsible for all functions of grant writing and development. Reports to Illinois Partners for Human Service Director. Membership Engagement Responsibilities: ï‚· Lead in development and implementation of member engagement strategy. ï‚· Serves as primary contact for Local Area Councils and coordinates meetings and events. ï‚· Responsible for supporting existing Local Area Councils and developing new Councils in strategic areas throughout the state. ï‚· Solicit meetings and make asks of member prospects, requesting an investment of time and money. ï‚· Develops marketing messages, including member benefit statements and testimonials from current members. ï‚· Generates original correspondence to members and donors and helps prepare proposals and reports. ï‚· Creates and implements the systematic use of a “12 Month Member Touchpoint Planâ€, engaging Illinois Partners staff, Executive Committee, and volunteer members throughout plan for each new member. ï‚· Engages members to learn their local needs and develops new methods of collaboration. ï‚· Provides advocacy support to members. ï‚· Works effectively and comprehensively with database of members. ï‚· Assists in writing and implementation of direct mail and email campaigns. ï‚· Provides quarterly reports to Director for inclusion in overall report to the Executive Committee. ï‚· Performs other duties as assigned. 09-19 / Membership Engagement and Development Manager Page 2 Revised 11-04-11 Fundraising and Development Responsibilities: ï‚· Researches grant and other funding opportunities, including new or previously untapped funding sources. ï‚· Supports Director and administrative staff in grant writing through proposal coordination, customization of proposals, and submission of grant packets in accordance with requirements of funders. ï‚· Responsible for grant status tracking, follow-up reporting, compliance monitoring, and other stewardship activities. ï‚· Tracks fulfillment and provides quarterly reports to Director for inclusion in overall report to the Executive Committee. ï‚· Attends required trainings. ï‚· Participates in regular supervision and staff meetings as required by department. ï‚· Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: ï‚· Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution required. ï‚· Minimum 4 years relevant work experience. ï‚· Knowledge of the nonprofit sector required. ï‚· Expertise in relationship building and an ability to develop effective relationships with members and community leaders. ï‚· Proven track record of grant funding source identification, successful grant writing, preparation, and submittal. ï‚· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. ï‚· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access. ï‚· Agility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment were priorities and directives often change quickly. ï‚· Attention to details and accuracy in data entry and logistical planning. ï‚· Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on projects. ï‚· Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance when the position requires an employee to operate a motor vehicle in connection with executing the positions responsibility, which include driving to and/or from any agency function.
