The JJ's List Disability Awareness Players are out and about spreading the word about disability-awareness again! This time, we were invited to present two sessions to staff at international engineering, energy and healthcare powerhouse, Siemens Corporation. With our custom-presentation, jam packed with fun and interactive demonstrations, Siemens staff enjoyed learning about Person-First Language and role-playing various scenarios involving people with disabilities in the workplace. They also walked away with a renewed sense of confidence about interacting with people with disabilities. Thanks to everyone at Siemens for being so welcoming! A coalition of groups announced a class action settlement that, when approved, will give thousands of people with disabilities in Cook County the choice of receiving support in their own homes. Teach it right. The SPILLS team received a very warm response when we exhibited for the first time at the Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) conference this week. We're happy to hear over and over again from teachers and administrators that our Safe and Productive Internet Life & Literacy Skills curriculum fills a great need in schools. There is no escaping the Internet in today's digital world. Let's teach our students with disabilities to use it right.
