Guest guest
LADSE, LaGrange area department for special education, serves LaGrange. We live in Downers Grove, in the Darien District 66 and that was serviced from LADSE for early intervention through eighth grade. Our daughter is now 22. We had a good relationship with LADSE. At the time when Angel was in 5th grade, they started a Communication Development program for children with autism. Angel was in it for 2 years and did well. I don't know if they have it now. It also depends on your school. At our school, the special ed administrator was excellent (he's since retired). > > hi, > > I am considering moving to Lagrange, and wonder how their special education is compared with Oak Park/River Forest on children with high functioning autism. I'd like 20%-40% of the time in regular ed, and the rest in a special education room with other high functioning kids to practice pragmatics and speech with. Do not know if that is possible, especially with the budge problem all schools are facing now. > > Any input would be great. > > Thanks, > Faye >
Guest guest
Hi Faye, I saw 's response to you, and yes, Lagrange is part of a special ed cooperative called LADSE, which does operate a continuum of out-of-district classrooms for it's member school districts. That said, there are also plenty of kids who attend their home schools/home districts, too (obviously more do than don't) and it might help our IPADD members to know what grade your son is in? High school? Transition?
