Guest guest
FYI Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... [iLAssnMicroboardsandatives] Fwd: New IL law for mental health care ins. parity FYI Teri Steinberg Chicago Regional Organizer Illinois Association of Microboards & atives, Inc. Www.iambc.org HI all, Please pass this on to clients, co-workers and friends who are interested in equality in mental health care services with physical health care services. The governor recently signed a bill for parity in mental health services that will go in effect 1/1/12 and also signed other related bills. This means that insurance companies can't charge any more for mental health services than they do for " physical " health services, and basically that whatever conditioins apply for physical health need to apply for mental health services. This information was in a State of IL enewsletter that I get. The article doesn't have info about whether their are types of insurance that are exempt, but it says that this legislation is more far reaching than what is in in the federal Affordable Care Act. People can talk with their insurance provider about this an look on the internet for more detailed information. http://www.illinois.gov/PressReleases/PressReleasesListShow.cfm?RecNum=9654 Sherry
