What I am doing on my summer vacation...

Hi all:

Thought I would tell you about what I have been working on.

I am part of a new ative called Best Futures, Inc. Our mission is to

empower people with I/DD to move forward; living, working and contributing in

their community.

We have been meeting as an informal group for about a year.

We have an executive board of seven and membership of twenty families. We are

working on employment opportunities as our first initiative. We have been

meeting with a local synagogue about running their cafe and staffing it with our

sons and daughters. We have just gotten word that their Board has approved the

plan.

We are thrilled and scared!

I will keep you all posted on how things go.

Just wanted you all to know that a group of committed families can make things

happen...we have more spirit than money, but somehow, we will make this work!
