Guest guest
Mileage reimbursement should be separate from wages. They will be taxed on wages, they should not be taxed on mileage reimbursement. The workers should provide you with a mileage log of where they went, when, and number of miles. > > Hi, > > Would any Employer/Parent who uses ACES$ for their PSW's know if mileage is paid separately by ACES$ or as an Employer/Parent should we try to approximate mileage driven per month and include it in pay rate? > > We will begin to use ACES$ on 8/1 and that is 1 question I forgot to ask. My husband will be Employer/Parent and we are trying to figure out a pay rate for our PSW's. We would like to increase what they are currently getting from our current Service Facilator, Easter Seals. Currently, Easter Seals pays them separately for mileage. > > Any thoughts, help is most appreciated. Guest guest
Anne, check out the Frequently Asked Question Document of the homepage of the FSN at http://www.familysupportnetwork.org/miscellaneous%20pdfs/2009%20Frequently%2 0Asked%20Questions.pdf. <http://www.familysupportnetwork.org> Transportation can be reimbursed. but NOT for Developmental Training programs. That is considered included in the DT rate. And NOT for medical appointments. Those can be reimbursed directly by Medicaid. Your service facilitator should be able to help you. Guest guest
Not sure if you are referring to travel fee's for the PSW to get to/from work or if you are referring to transportation provided by the PSW with your son/daughter to access the community. If it is the former, then the employer would have to take that into consideration when determining the hourly pay rate for that PSW. If it is the later, non-medical transportation services can be paid to a provider (PSW) through the Home-Based Support Service Program but is not through Aces$. The provider (PSW) would have to also enroll as a 'transportation provider' with DHS, which the Service Facilitator can help with. This service only includes traveling WITH the HBSS recipient and when it is to gain access to waiver and other comminity services, activities and resources that are specified in the service plan. They would have to keep a log of the destinations and mileage and submit it to the Service Facilitator monthly. Any transportation provided to medical services would be excluded from this as that is techincally covered by Medicaid and should be able to use a Medicaid provider for that (even though we all know that may not be convienent). Hope this helps but feel free to ask anything else if I did not answer your question. > > > > Hi, > > > > Would any Employer/Parent who uses ACES$ for their PSW's know if mileage is paid separately by ACES$ or as an Employer/Parent should we try to approximate mileage driven per month and include it in pay rate? >
Guest guest
Hi, So when you are referring to a " transportation provider " with DHS, does that " transportation provider " get money out of the recipients HBSS (Home based support service program) monthly fund? Or is it a seperate fund with it's own budget? I am fairly new to the HBSS program, still trying to get educated on what other funding options are out there for my sister. She has a higher IQ/independance, yet she requires some medical care (g-tube bolus feedings-mostly independant, meds, rare mouth suctioning-mostly independant). My sister has been on the PUNS as an emergency candidate for awhile now, yet we are not able to find an open CILA, that can fullfill her medical needs, within 1.5 hours from home/family. We did find a place that was wanting to expand their horizons and try putting more medical into an exsisting CILA, and had to back out of the deal because they felt it might cost them to much money/liability, they didn't want to take on. Like I said before her independance/IQ is to high for an ICF. So in the meantime we are every month trying to make ends meet with HBSS money. Does anyone else know of other ways to get additional funding? I don't understand why the state can't pay some CILA's what they need to support people in the middle ground like my sister, yet expect the family (no parents, just siblings) to be able to support them on our own income. I can't afford for a person to come into the home and care for her 24/7 (excluding day program), so I do it, at a financial loss. If people want to stay in the home, what other funding is available that I am missing besides SSI, that can help people like my sister get a caregiver/supports. Has anyone ever opened their own CILA and or have any information to share about opening a CILA? thanks D.R.
Guest guest
Dawn: Some people are starting their own CILA's through the establishment of a Microboard. The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities is funding a project that helps families do this. Contact Vicki Niswander at vniswander@... Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@...
