Guest guest
Wanted to share the news regarding a project that Mothers on a Mission, Inc. is collaborating on in The City of Berwyn. More communities can check into this by contacting KaBOOM! Bedard Hi Everyone: I think after all of my e-mails everyone is aware that we are collaborating on an effort to build a new playground in Berwyn for " all " children. This playground will have equipment for children with disabilities as well and typical children. It is one of the landmark playgrounds that will enable " all " children to play together and therefore learn about each other. This effort is collaboration between, KaBOOM!, Mothers on a Mission, Inc., North Berwyn Park District, Berwyn Development Corporation, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. You can watch Channel 7 News at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday to learn more about this exciting project. We are looking for people to volunteer for Prep Day Thursday, October 6th, the actual Build Day, Saturday October 8th. We have also set up a Chip In web site for those who can make a donation to off set the cost of this project. We are attempting to raise $8,500.00. We have to feed over 250 volunteers, this include breakfast, lunch and all the utensils, we also have to rent tools to build this playground and this is just a few of the things we need to fund. Even $1.00 helps. Here is the web-site that has been set up for this purpose: http://mothersonamission.chipin.com/berwyn-gardens-playground I hope that many of you will consider signing up to volunteer or make a donation. To volunteer please contact Woods at 708-749-4900 Ext. 11. Thank you!!!!!! Guest guest
Thank you. We are VERY excited about building this playground for " all " children. It will be the first of it's kind in Berwyn. It took a lot of planning and it is hard to believe that it will finally happen on October the 8th. The following is a little blurb we are sending out to anyone who would be interested in volunteering or making a donation. We are seeking 150 volunteers who do not need to be skilled, trained! Join us as an individual or as a team! Contact Woods at 708-749-4900 X11 for more details or e-mail: nwoods@... We need to raise $8500.00 to help make this dream come true. You can donate at http://mothersonamission.chipin.com/berwyn-gardens-playground Bedard, PLA Ricky, andra and 's Mom Mothers on a Mission, Inc. 6515 Stanley Avenue #4 Berwyn, IL 60402 708-217-3196 www.mothersonamission.net www.noewait.net " Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all -- the apathy of human beings. Guest guest
: Congratulations on the publicity for your playground project. What a great and valuable mission! I know of another mom in Buffalo Grove who did something similar. I am sure she would be happy to share her experiences in her community. I you would find it useful, feel free to email me offline and I will give you her contact information. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Guest guest
Ka Boom came to our school and did the same thing. Personally, I was disappointed that it didn't respond to the needs of " big Kids " who enjoy playground activities but whose bodies don't fit ( which is why I volunteered to be on the planning committee) but the younger kids and parents are very happy with it and an outdoor space was much needed. Have you tried reaching out to local businesses for your fundraising and volunteers? especially those that cater to children might sponsor or have " teams " of helpers from the business, also youth groups (scouts etc) in the community, high schools students looking for volunteer hours are sometime very good at fundraising too. My daughter " passed the hat " in her choral group, you'd be surprised how quickly small change adds up and her teacher matched funds she collected. This will also help create awareness. Also for the day of places like Einsteins, Dunkin Donuts and Costco will donate food for your volunteers. Good Luck and have Fun! Guest guest
Thank you so much! It was an interesting process to work with KaBOOM! and Blue Cross/Blue Shield to get the rubber surface, ramps, swings, panels and Aero Glider. BC/BS has been amazing!!!!!! The community seems to be stepping up for the project and I am quite excited. October the 8th should be a lot of fun!!!
