Presidential Proclamation - National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Every year, the President of the United States recognizes National

Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) with a Presidential Proclamation

Job Accommodation Network Announces its 2011/2012 Free Webcast Series

Schedule

The subjects of the free webcasts will include the business case for

hiring, retaining, and advancing people with disabilities; veterans' issues;

Autism Spectrum disorders in the workplace; accommodating individuals with

limited dexterity; current events in accommodation; best practices; mobility

impairments in the workplace; reasonable accommodations for employees with

mental health impairments; self-employment strategies; and an ADA update.

ODEP Signs Memorandum of Agreement with Women's Bureau on Flexible

Workplace Strategies

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) establishes an understanding between the

ODEP and the Women's Bureau to expand and promote the use of flexible workplace

strategies among employers, particularly relating to the hiring and career

advancement of individuals with disabilities (including female and male disabled

veterans), and others with complex employment situations.

Comment Period on FCC NPRM on Closed Captioning of Internet

Protocol-Delivered Video Programming Ends October 18th

The Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of

2010 ( " CVAA " ) requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to revise its

regulations to mandate closed captioning on certain video programming delivered

using Internet protocol. In the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking ( " NPRM " ), the FCC

initiates a proceeding that will fulfill this requirement.

Secretary Solis announces $2.2 million in funding for the 'Add Us In'

initiative

The four, two-year cooperative agreements represent the second round of

funding provided through ODEP's " Add Us In " initiative. The first round of
