Guest guest
We used the Woodridge office also. Our only delay was the high school was dragging it's feet with a response. I believe that your success is because your paperwork was in excellent condition and SSA received prompt responses from whomever they contacted. Congrats on a job well done! > > After all I have heard about the the application process for SSI, I was not looking forward to it. My son turned 18 in August so I called the Woodridge SS office in September to get the ball rolling. I had a phone interview a few days later on September 21. They needed some additional information which I dropped off a couple days later. Yesterday, to my surprise, our first check for the full amount of $674 arrived in my mailbox! It was less than 2 weeks from start to finish. Am I an exception to the rule or have they streamlined the process? > ~Jama >
Guest guest
The Woodridge office is where we went also, and I will say Ms was wonderful, and we were approved on the spot b/c we came with the necessary paperworks and I had sit down with me and after 10 minutes she said I can approve you today. I have heard horror stories about other offices, whether that is true or not I do not know. I know it was a year ago that my son turned 18, and I know I was a wreck in general. it is almost cruel that the yound adult turns 18 usually in the same year as completing 12th grade. And then families have yet more stressful stuff to deal with- Transition stuff, to go along with all the legal stuff to deal with too. Not to mention working a job/career and taking care of the day to day needs you always for your young adult in general, and often a whole family of others as well. I did not have a spouse that was able to help with any of it, and I work full time. I know for me I almost didn't make it! Glad yor experiences so far have been smooth!
