Guest guest
Lauri, I have no clue as to the specifics of this bill. But typically something like that is a placeholder for future legislation. Charlotte Sent via DROID on Verizon Wireless Springfield Today There is a full calendar of votes today in Springfield, with both houses of the General Assembly in session today and tomorrow to finalize the budget and bills. Appropriations Bill SB2450 is listed on the schedule for today, came out of House Committee yesterday and has an amendment attached to it now that has me totally flumoxed!! Anyone know what this means? Rep. Sara enholtz Filed: 5/28/2011 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2450 Amend Senate Bill 2450 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following: " Section 5. The amount of $2, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Human Services for its ordinary and contingent expenses. Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2011. " . Here's what's confusing me: This is the Dept of Human Services Appropriations Bill!! The amount of TWO DOLLARS? What am I missing here? The original bill, as amended in the Senate by Senator Steans, appropriated less money to the state-run ops and more to community services!! HUH? I've heard of last-minute changes, but this I truly don't understand. Anyone who can shed some light on the matter? I've already called my rep's office this morning, Tom Cross, his phone lines were crazy busy ringing as of 10 minutes ago, so I doubt my concern will be answered there. Guest guest
Okay, this means they vote and possibly pass the bill and fill in with addendum/dollars later? Do I have this right, or can someone explain this one to me. Thanks for you patience. I don't think I get this one. Guest guest
Well, no. I think it would allow them to get through committee or maybe first reading. But, they wouldn’t pass it without final wording.
