Dear Friends, Today is the first day of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. For the last three years, volunteer-run JJ’s List has worked at a grassroots level to build a strong movement to help integrate people with all disabilities into the community. I write now to ask for your support by purchasing a ticket or making a donation to the October 13 Bridge Builder Benefit to help grow this seedling into an ecosystem that will change the concept of disability in the 21st Century. Your contributions directly support these outstanding programs, run by a cross-ability team of people with and without disabilities: a.. Our community-driven review website www.jjslist.com is a fast-growing resource of information and advocacy for individuals and businesses. Growth is great! But it’s straining the website’s capacity. It’s in desperate need of a complete overhaul to become more user-friendly and interactive for all. Your contribution will help make that possible. a.. Parents and teachers of students with special needs who have seen our Safe and Productive Internet Life & Literacy (SPILLS) Curriculum have said, “How soon can our kids be taught these critical life skills?†Would you or your company help sponsor the Curriculum to help close the digital literacy gap between students with disabilities and their peers without disabilities? a.. Our “Disability Awareness Players†program is a smash hit with businesses in Chicagoland. Feedback we've received from a satisfied Siemens Corporation staff includes, " Very informative. I hope your organization is able to reach out to schools as well. " Through this program, teens and young adults with disabilities build essential communications and networking skills for future employment, while helping businesses learn how to interact naturally with people who have disabilities in service and employment. Your support will keep this program going. Times are tough, but you can be certain that your contributions will go directly to making times better for all of us. Friends like you will make it happen. Thank you for your support of JJ’s List!
