There are only three weeks left until the national announcement of the Disabilities At Work Endorsed Businesses—the “honor roll” of businesses that support the disabled community. This is your opportunity as an agency that helps people with disabilities to acknowledge those businesses that really ‘step up’ in support of people with disabilities, go ‘beyond compliance’ in their hiring practices or support causes that benefit the disabled community with their philanthropy. This new program launched by www.DisabilitiesAtWork.org aims to harness the economic power of the disability community to support businesses that support people with disabilities. Community service providers, affiliates of the USBLN, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, schools and school districts, or similar entities that work with, or on behalf of, people with disabilities can endorse businesses that support the disabled community. In return, endorsed businesses can display the unique Disabilities At Work logo on its website, on windows, doors, and walls with decals and plaques, and on letterhead. People with disabilities, their families, friends, and service providers control billions of dollars in disposable income every year. You can use that buying power to reward businesses that have earned the right to display the Disabilities At Work logo, and encourage other businesses to do so, as well. If your organization works with people with disabilities, you probably interact with dozens of businesses in your training and placement activities. Go to www.DisabilitiesAtWork.org register as an endorsing agency, and nominate those businesses. Endorsed businesses will be listed on the Disabilities At Work website and will be announced in a national press release on October 27, 2011. Feel free to pass this information on to your contacts at other agencies that might not have received this information. The more businesses we can recognize through the national press release, the better – it might just motivate businesses that don't support people with disabilities to do so. You only have three more weeks to endorse these well-deserving businesses. You have three weeks to make your issues, their issues. Questions, contact: info@...
