SPECIAL PLANS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS AT LAST FLING 2011

The Naperville Jaycees have set in place plans to make this year’s Last Fling

accessible for people of all abilities. Accessible parking, accessible shuttle

service, accessible viewing areas and other accommodation information can be

found at: www.lastfling.org.

Once again, the carnival will provide rides for free and with priority, no-wait

boarding for children with special needs. This will be offered on Sunday,

September 4, 2011 from 10AM to noon. All children must be accompanied by an

adult. Stop at the Naperville Jaycees volunteer trailer located on Eagle Street

at the bridge to get a wristband for participation in this program.

I’ve been told by many families who participate in the special needs carnival

time, that it not only provides an enjoyable time for their children who have

special needs, but often siblings miss out on this type of a fun family outing

because it is not easy or too over stimulating for their brother or sister, so

the entire family does not attend.

Thank you Naperville Jaycees for accommodating families with special needs.

There will also be a fundraiser during Last Fling in support of Misericordia, a

supportive living community that serves people with disabilities. In November

2010, Naperville Jaycee Theresa Ann Pryor passed away from a brain aneurysm at

the age of 45. “Theresa was committed to the Jaycees and served on the Board

of Directors, the Last Fling Executive Committee as well as chairing the

Naperville Jaycees’ Distinguished Service Awards,†said Last Fling’s

Executive Director Brad . “Misericordia was near and dear to Theresa

because her sister lives there,†he went on to say.

Throughout this year’s event, purple memorial wristbands with Misericordia’s

logo and Theresa’s name, will be available for purchase in the Sponsor’s

Tent on Rotary Hill and at the Jaycees’ Manpower Tent located at the corner of

Eagle Street and Avenue. Each wristband is $2. On Saturday, September

3rd, wristbands will also be available for purchase at all Last Fling beverage

tents. All beverage tent tips received that day will be donated to Misericordia

in Theresa’s name.
