Arc and HB 653 Passes Committee The Arc of Illinois April 8, 2011 Leaders in The Arc: You may recall that I shared comments by Rep Greg concerning the deaths at Graywood in ton. He was concerned that families were not notified about the problems at Graywood. As a result, Rep , Chair of the House Human Services Committee, introduced House Bill 653, Amendment #1. The bill passed the Human Services Committee unanimously yesterday. Below is the section of the bill on transparency and notifying guardians and a link to the entire bill. Transparency for individuals and guardians. By October 1, 2011, the Department shall make available to individuals and guardians upon enrollment a document listing telephone numbers and other contact information to report suspected cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The information provided shall include a delineation of the individuals' rights. By July 1, 2012, the Department shall make available through its website information on each agency regarding licensure and quality assurance survey results; licensure and contract status; and substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The Department shall adopt rules regarding the posting of this information and shall inform individuals and guardians of its availability during the initial provider selection process. " .
