SIBSHOP OFFERED FOR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS

Location, Date: Siblings of children who have special needs are encouraged to

attend a Sibshop on October 1, 2011 at Friendship United Methodist Church, 305

E. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook, IL.

Sibshops are recreational workshops that offer support, discussion, and peer

interaction for brothers and sisters of children who have special needs. These

dynamic events allow children to make friends, learn more about disabilities,

and share their experiences.  Interactive games and discussions encourage the

participants to have fun while obtaining peer support.

On October 1, a sibshop for children aged 7 to 12 will occur from 11am to 2pm.

Lunch will be included and the cost is $20. A sibshop for children aged 5 and 6

will occur from 2:30 to 4:00, with parent participation, for a cost of $15, and

will include a snack.

The Sibshop Facilitator, Tara Conley, MA, has been working with adults and

children with disabilities for over 20 years. She has been a trained Sibshop

facilitator since 1996. Her work is inspired by her younger brother who has

developmental disabilities. This Sibshop is sponsored by Supporting Illinois

Brothers and Sisters (www.sibsnetwork.org) and Friendship United Methodist

Church.

To register for this Sibshop, please contact Tara Conley by email at
