Guest guest Posted August 30, 2011 Report Share Posted August 30, 2011 SIBSHOP OFFERED FOR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS Location, Date: Siblings of children who have special needs are encouraged to attend a Sibshop on October 1, 2011 at Friendship United Methodist Church, 305 E. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook, IL. Sibshops are recreational workshops that offer support, discussion, and peer interaction for brothers and sisters of children who have special needs. These dynamic events allow children to make friends, learn more about disabilities, and share their experiences. Interactive games and discussions encourage the participants to have fun while obtaining peer support. On October 1, a sibshop for children aged 7 to 12 will occur from 11am to 2pm. Lunch will be included and the cost is $20. A sibshop for children aged 5 and 6 will occur from 2:30 to 4:00, with parent participation, for a cost of $15, and will include a snack. The Sibshop Facilitator, Tara Conley, MA, has been working with adults and children with disabilities for over 20 years. She has been a trained Sibshop facilitator since 1996. Her work is inspired by her younger brother who has developmental disabilities.
