I have an uncle that is in his 70's has development delays and suffered stroke. He is having numerous problems physical and mental. I'm not this stage of life with my own children. I need resources to assist my family. Any suggestions for services would help out! I don't know all the details but, want to aid my family from my contacts. Thank you in advance. Sent from my iPhone Hi - I have some experience working with this population and I could assist you in the care of your uncle. Perhaps we could discuss my assisting your uncle in some way. So, If you'd like, you can email me at kyndojo@... and we can talk about it. Thank you, Doreen
Guest guest
Sharon: I would think the first step would be to find out who the PAS Agency is in the area in which your Uncle lives. If he is I/DD, they are the gatekeepers for supports and services. In addition, other agencies may exist in the township, county or other entity, for example The Council for Jewish Elderly (tI believe they provide services for senior citizens of all religions.) Unfortunately, this is not my area of expertise...anyone else have information that could be useful to this family? Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Guest guest
Ellen, I contacted my uncle that has power of attorney over my other uncle and he didn't know what a PAS agency was...this helped me with a starting point. I contacted Suburban Access and left a message for a follow up on Tuesday. I wanted to reach out to the group because of the amount of experts that may have already encountered this realm of life. I plan on reaching out to a number of agencies until I find out the best avenue. I just didn't want to spin my wheels in the wrong direction and waste time. I will be reaching out to the following organizations: Suburban Access Division of Mental Health Grand Prairie Services Jewish Child & Family Services Chicago Association for Retarded Citizens (IF ANYONE HAS AN ACCURATE CONTACT NUMBER) Park Lawn Thank you for responding to the email, it's a start.
