How very exciting and awesome ! Congrats!!

Soup's On! :)

I know you guys will get this -- tonight I was outside trimming branches off of

a small tree in our yard, and lost track of the time ( usually eats dinner

around 6:00). When I came in the house, apologizing loudly for my tardiness, I

see , sitting alone at the kitchen table, eating CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP and

looking quite pleased with herself.

SHE'D 'MADE' IT ALL HERSELF. :0)

Which means she:

Located and then opened the 's soup can (you didn't think it was

homemade!), the ones in the pull top can

Located and then poured the soup into a microwave container

Filled and then poured a can of water into the container (a step she often

forgets)

Threw away the can in the recycling bin

Heated the soup

Got the correct soup bowl & underplate, utensils, even remembered a placemat!

Brought all to the table, sat down and enjoyed that soup!!!

How about that?

We've been working on sequencing the steps for a LONG time.

I'm very very proud of her, and have to say she seems very very proud of herself

too!

That's a GOOD day.

CONGRATULATIONS! Those are intentional all caps!

Your fine story reminded me of something when my son, Jonathon, was younger. I

had just about given up on trying to teach him to tie shoe laces. His father

had also tried with an approach that had apparently worked for himself --

" this is the tree. This rabbit goes around the tree this way... " I was

resigned to imagining JOnathon as a 30-year old man with velcro on his shoes.

And then on a summer family vacation trip to Colorado, we had lots of time

together in the car. And finally Jonathon got the rabbits around the tree.

There's much to be said for revisiting skills we've worked to teach when we're

more relaxed:)

Thanks for sharing that success.

Bonnie
