I think many in Illinois have the mistaken notion that it is MUCH better every

place else...clearly not the case in SC and other places as well.

Though the Ligas case has been resolved in favor of the plaintiffs, as

would say, the devil is in the details.

What I would give to see this happen in SC. Our waiting list for

residential housing is over 10,000. For families like ours, a 28 year old

daughter with fairly severe special needs, and a husband who has always been a

great provider and hands on father, who now has stage 4 cancer, it is almost

impossible. I am the only one able to work and then try my best to care for them

and maintain the home and yard in my " spare " time. The only people with

disabilities who are receiving housing placement, have no say as to where they

will live. They just have to take what ever bed in whatever town becomes

available. This makes separating an even tougher issue because of time and

travel.
