Guest guest
Listmates, Here are two more good mercury poisoning symptoms lists. I highlighted the ones that are so like ASDs. I still can't believe how much the notes from my son's well-check two years ago match with these (his doctor took several pages of notes). I also find it hard to believe that his "atypical autism" which didn't appear until after his boosters at four years of age wasn't recognized as mercury poisoning sooner. I remember being so puzzled about his tightly shutting his eyes in pictures for about three months after the shots. (This was never a problem before then and did not continue to be either). He also usually asked to eat his breakfast in the dining room because it was too sunny in the kitchen. Now that I know photophobia is a symptom of mercury poisoning it all makes sense. Does any one else have a child who complains of blurred vision? Sometimes my son says that he has "blurry blotches" in his field of vision. McNerney RT & McNerney JJ. A Review. Mercury Contamination In the Dental Office. NYS Dental Journal November 1979 pp 457-458 NO ABSTRACT AVAILABLE. CITATION FROM THE TEXT FOLLOWS: "This article is a synthesis of many studies and writings on the problem associated with exposure to mercury vapor in workplace environment, particulary the dental office... The symptoms of mercury poisoning from chronic inhalation develop gradually and thus, may be difficult to notice. With the exception of tremor, the symptoms may be ignored by the victim or attributed to other causes. This lack of awareness is particulary likely in the case of erethism, a condition characterized by irritability, outbursts of temper, excitability, shyness, resentment of criticism, headache, fatigue, and indecision. Erethism is the most difficult manifestation of mercury poisoning to evaluate, especially if tremors are absent, and its symptoms may be attributed to anxiety or neuroasthenia. Other general symptoms associated with mercury poisoning include weakness, unusual fatigue, loss of weight, loss of appetite, insomnia and gastrointestinal disturbances. A condition known as asthenic-vegetative syndrome, also called micromercurialism, is said to account for psychological changes observed in persons frequently exposed to low concentrations of mercury in the air, concentrations found in the majority of dental offices surveyed. The syndrome is characterized by decreased productivity, loss of memory, loss of self confidence, depression, fatigue and irritability" Tandvardsskadeforbundet, TF. (Swedish Association of Dental Mercury Patients). ABC on mercury-poisoning from dental amalgam fillings. Handbook for victims of mercury-poisoning from dental amalgam. Nov 1993 (Booklet) NO ABSTRACT AVAILABLE. QUOTATION FOLLOWS: "...The primary symptoms of mercury-poisoning are vague psychic ones. Short-time memory deteriorates. You will find it difficult to concentrate on tasks which require attention and thinking. It is easier to execute tasks that are well known rather than to learn something new. You avoid social contacts which demand that you get out of your introvert behavior. You loose your temper easily and switch between different moods for no particular reason. Little by little, a more physical kind of exhaustion is added to the condition. More and more effort is to initiate activities and sometimes break things due to inability to co-ordinate your movements with your visual impressions (ataxia). Occasional headaches, minor involuntary muscle spasms or ticks within groups of muscles can also appear. Hands and feet become easily cold, attacks of dizziness or vertigo can occur, and periodically you may find it difficult to focus your eyes and to see clearly. Joint and muscle pains, stiffness, lumbago and similar symptoms often appear at an early stage. They can be caused or increased by low availability of the trace element selenium. Nervous heart, sometimes accompanied by a week pulse, sometimes by a hard pulse, creates a feeling of anxiety. You don't sleep well, you wake up stiff and never feel thoroughly rested. As a whole you need more sleep than before, and you are constantly tired. Some individuals develop pronounced intestinal and stomach disturbances. Bloating is common and diarrhea can alternate with constipation. From 50 to 200 micrograms mercury from amalgam daily passes gastrointestinal tract. There is usually irritation where mercury first interacts with tissues. The upper respiratory tract easily becomes chronically inflamed and symptoms in mouth appear. The gums bleed when you brush your teeth, red and white irritations (lichen, leukoplakia) araise, blisters and sensitivity to certain nutritives develop, ypur teeth ache, the whole jaw can become more or less inflamed, and some persons develop sinusitis. Metal taste in your mouth is a direct sign of metal-poisoning (mercury, copper). The more poisoned you are, the more serious and chronic your problems become. The pituitary gland will be affected which often leads to frequent urination. When the thyroid gland is affected secondary effects on metabolism can appear. Both glands accumulate mercury. neurological symptoms such as numbness, hypersensitivity and paralysis exacerbate. It is often hard to determine if the cause is in the nervous or circulatory systems..."

Guest guest
I don't know anything about Michigan or Allergists there but I do know that there is one place in LaCrosse, Wisconsin that does a great deal of testing for allergies to Chemicals, Inhalents and Foods. People flock there from all over the U.S. and Canada as well as other parts of the world. As far as I am concerned, they are about the only people I trust for testing such things.
