That is SO great, Liz. I’m glad you posted this, have been wondering what’s

up with and the Waiver.

The older we get, the more we appreciate having the house to ourselves...don’t

even have to go out to feel like we’re getting a nice break!

And if I was being completely honest, I’d tell you that sometimes we just take

NAPS while is out. Isn’t that sad?

But it’s what keeps us going sometimes. We all have to do whatever it takes

to keep up our energy!!!

Subject: Getting Respite!!!

has been home from the facility 13 months now & we're finally getting

respite care!

One of the former staff from the facility is going to be his psw along with me.

is looking forward to her being here as well as we are. I'm so glad we

stayed in touch after she left there.

She's gonna do community activities with him, so am hoping he won't fight

getting out as much.

Have a safe & happy 4th everyone!

I did all the hrs with in June. Today was the first day with P, his new

worker. She's gonna do a couple 6 hr shifts a week.

She's having surgery in a couple weeks, but I wanted her to start before her

surgery & she wanted to do it.

She was one of the good staff. We met her at a pool, which is close to her

house. She then took him out to eat, out for ice cream & bowling. Then they came

back here to play Wii. Meanwhile, I got my refrigerator cleaned!!!

Hopefully she'll get paid faster than I did. Has anybody that has Home Based

gotten their check. Was told that I wouldn't get a check until the fingerprint

results came back. I got fingerprinted on June 9. Would have thought they'd be

back by now. I'll be calling Access Tuesday. They weren't there Friday when I

called.

Thanks for sharing, Liz.

We need to hear the good and the not so good stories...these make powerful tools

when we visit our legislators...

Wishing everyone a healthy and enjoyable 4th of July. We have our own unique

perspective on FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE living with an individual who happens to

have a disability.
