Guest guest
This morning we learned that the Senate has introduced Amendment #1 to Senate Bill 2450. This calls for a 25% cut in the operating budget for State Institutions (SODCs). This bill puts the budgets of all institutions into one line and slashes them by this amount. This is a little piece of hope for the changing of disability service philosophy in Illinois. Also this could have the potential to positively impact community based services that are in desperate need for children and adults with disabilities. Supportive communication for this move should be directed to Senator Steans (the Bill’s sponsor) and Senator Cullerton (Senate President). You should also let your senator know that you support this action. Senator Steans: jen@... Senator Cullerton: john@... This amendment is already getting opposition from the State Institution supporters who have a loud voice. We need to be loud, too! Together, we will make a difference. Thank you!
