The Arc of Illinois

The Arc of Illinois is a state chapter of The Arc

of the United States. The Arc of Illinois is committed to empowering persons

with disabilities to achieve full participation in community life through

informed choices.

Leaders in The Arc:

Last year, the state’s budget deficit was

estimated at $13 billion!

When the Governor introduced the State Budget for

Fiscal Year 2012, disability services were facing $76.3 million in cuts to

community services. Specialized grants for Respite Care, Dental Clinics and

others were scheduled to be eliminated. It was a crisis the like we’ve never

seen before.

The Arc of Illinois Board of Directors acted

swiftly and called for a public affairs campaign. Our objective was to combat

the cuts that were coming and take our message about the importance of community

services to the public.

The Board pledged $25,000 from our reserves. We

asked you to assist and $52,000 was raised to initiate “LIFE – Living with

Independence Fairness & Equality – Fund Critical Services for People with

Disabilities,†was out theme. We knew we need professional assistance and

hired the Morreale Public Affairs Group to carry out our campaign.

Your work, our work together, was nothing less

than impressive!

There is no doubt in my mind that this campaign

not only resulted in stopping the 6% cuts to community services and home-based

services, but also restored respite, dental and other grants targeted for

elimination!

We have much to be proud of with this campaign. I

appreciate your leadership that resulted in creating and funding the LIFE

Campaign!
