Thanks Laurie,

Yes we are all busy planning endless hours of summer (what you do everyday since

became an adult right?) and Quentin would be thrilled to just ride the bus

or train all day (we actually did that in Paris once or twice)

At your suggestion I did contact . I was composing my post when life

interrupted and I see you posted his transportation answer.

About PSWs not paying entrance fees for fitness centers, pools theaters etc. he

said it is an unofficial law with alot of gray area. This is because " reasonable

accommodation " shouldn't cause " burden " to the business. So as you pointed out

in a previous post PSW can enter fitness center but not use machines, the pool

is gray because they have to actually get in the pool, theater same thing. He

said that if the PSW is profiting from the facility in any way other than simply

assisting then they have to pay entrance. With Quentin's seizure disorder he

can't safely go anywhere alone so there's the gray.

Glad you were able to connect with – he’s a great resource for

anything ADA-related, and a great guy in general. We’re lucky to have him

serving as Chair of our Disability Committee in town as a resident/volunteer!

Good luck with planning the summer, Thais and all. I remember the panic!!

One thing you gotta say about post-school is THERE’S NO SCHOOL CALENDAR

ANYMORE. Which means no long breaks, 1/2 days off, etc.

I’m trying to be positive here!

Maybe we’ll see you riding the rails sometime this summer,

Laurie

This indeed is a gray area. Angel's current PSW goes out of her way NOT to

benefit from anything. We have to literally beg her to eat when she accompanies

us to activities where food is served. Now her previous PSW was totally

different, she definitely took advantage for herself (to the point of neglecting

Angel).

It might be fun to ride the rails together one summer day, or any time of the

year...Noah is occupied all week long, but we have times open during the

weekend...we could all meet at one central location and ride together...could be

a party on the train!!!

Anyone willing to plan it? I don't have the time to do that, at the moment...

Noah and I took a train trip to Minneapolis about 6 years ago with two of his

friends and their Moms...It was great fun!
