Guest guest
Thais, You should call 911, tell them you have an adult with autism that needs immediate transport to the hospital, suspected sprained ankle, and take him to the hospital. I know for sure that Medicare picks up about $700 of the $1000 charge the city levies for ambulance transport, so have to imagine that Medicaid would pick up at least that much. Don't quote me on that, but how could they not pick up at least some of the cost? This assumes, of course, you don't have any neighbors who could help. Safely. I just called the fire dept and they said naperville doesn't have non emergency transport only ambulences and their not sure if they are covered. Called a medical transport service who said it would take 3-5 business days. I tried to carry Quentin to the toilet this morning and not only is he too heavy, he screamed in pain and tried to pull my hair out. He has a badly sprained ankle (I think )following a seizure yesterday so I need to get him to but don't have anyone to help me carry him downstairs into the car. For now I gave him ibuprofin and he is sleeping. Thanks, Thais

Guest guest
Thanks Laurie, 2 minutes after posting I got a call from the chief EMS in Naperville who clarified that they would transport an injured person to the hospital if I called 911, which they did. Just shows you never know who is lurking on IPADDUnite. I didn't call any neighbors because Quentin started pulling my hair and screaming in pain when I tried to carry him to the toilet so I thought I should let the pros do it safely. I did however get several calls from neighbors offering to pick us up, bring dinner or help in any way so I feel truly blessed. Thankfully, Quentin doesn't have anything broken but the sprain is so sever that he has to stay off it for at least a week. The doctor asked if he could use crutches, I said that depends for what, so we have a wheelchair. Thais
Guest guest
Thank goodness you have a happy ending to the story. What a day for you and for Quent, though! Hope he's on the mend soon. You take care, too. Guest guest
Thais,  I hope he didn't do this distributing flyers! I'm glad you have a good sense of humor; I liked your comment about the crutches. My son had knee surgery at age 6. The first cast went on easily since he was not conscious. The second one, put on after they took a saw to the first one, was done with three adults holding him down. They never should have let him see the saw.  Best regards,  Margie From: Francis PALLUAU <fpalluau@...> Subject: Re: Re: medical transport in naperville IPADDUnite Date: Friday, April 1, 2011, 11:48 PM  Thanks Laurie, 2 minutes after posting I got a call from the chief EMS in Naperville who clarified that they would transport an injured person to the hospital if I called 911, which they did.
