Guest guest
Liz, what does it say at the top of the ‘award letter’ right below ’s name/address? On ours there was a RE: Adult Home-Based Support (AHBS) Program Award line. Is that on yours, too? Because if yes, then he has gotten access to day program, job coaches, personal support workers that he can interview/hire/choose to go to music classes or performances with, etc etc. Check the letter and see if it’s there. While I'm really glad that he got it, I'm a little confused...(SO, what else is new!!!) On one side of the paper it says authorized day programs & hourly rates Listed is 1,100 hrs per year for DT...nothing for job coach, adult day care or at home or other day program; nor respite. When I called & talked to our PAS agency & to Alan C, I had told them that DT DOESN'T WORK for . I don't know if a job coach would work, but we've never gotten to try it. It does have behavior intervention, group or individual therapy or counseling, so he can access that. Guess I'll be contacting the service facilitator we picked first, then our PAS agency. Guest guest
Liz, they've just given you DT, not the Home-Based Support Services program.. Guest guest
Thank you, Charlotte! I'm glad I go to the experts first. This is EXACTLY what I asked NOT to have. I told " the powers that be " that DT DOESN'T WORK FOR JOHN. When we got the letter & I looked at it, I was wondering if that's what it meant. Ya know when something is too good to be true, it usually is. Oh, well I won't let it ruin my celebrating this weekend. Liz

Guest guest
Liz and Charlotte, Liz, do us all a favor and let us know what you find out. Our letter was formatted the same way as yours, and I was also confused, but then our service provider explained that could in fact use the money for any approved services under Home Based. And that was that. Hope it turns out the same for you, and please let us know! Laurie Re: Award letter Thank you, Charlotte! I'm glad I go to the experts first. Guest guest
So this is the fast scoop. DT its a funded service under HBSSP. A few years ago Lilia made a decision that folks would no longer be newly enrolled in DT only. Participants could use only DT if that was what they wanted but they would also have more options. I think that Liz' son is being offered DT only because it's part of the " conversion " project which is just winding up. I think Liz has a chance of fighting it. I sure would.
