Our Legislative Coffee at the Capitol!

Family Support Network Members and Friends. . ..

I am home after an exhilarating but exhausting week. This is my first really

good internet connection and now I have time to use it!

The LIFE Coalition really rocked it out this week. You can be proud of us and

know that we are doing EVERYTHING we can to stop this awful budget.

Tuesday we spent the day sharing invitations to the Legislative Coffee and

having a number of good conversations with our legislators.

Your e-mails backing up our invitation were vital. THANKS!! for your support!

Wednesday was our Legislative Coffee.

Twenty-eight legislators, the Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon, DHS Secretary

Saddler all attended. I can’t even count the number of family

advocates.

Most legislators have their e-mail address on their www.ilga.gov webpage. A few

don’t. I have had great luck just “googling†their names and finding their

web pages.

Wednesday Afternoon Misty White, Carlissa Puckett, and two of her board members

joined Tony auski and myself at the Springfield Journal Register for an

“Editorial Boardâ€.

We are hoping for that they will write an editorial supporting us soon! The

Springfield paper is so important because, of course, all the legislators read

it. The conversation went SOOOO well. I’m very optimistic.
