Guest guest
I applaud NSSED for providing this information, which was actually compiled by two parents. If anyone lives in the northern suburbs served by NSSED, contact them or email me offline for the attachment. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... From Noonan: Police Dept. Open Houses The APS Board of NSSED would like to invite you to take advantage of the following programs and services: POLICE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSES During the month of April, many suburban police departments will be holding open houses exclusively for special needs students and their families. A full listing of dates and times is attached. We strongly encourage you to attend the event in your community, or if your department is not hosting an open house please know that they are more than willing to arrange individual tours so they can meet your family and your special needs child. VOLUNTARY REGISTRATION PROCESS Most departments maintain a voluntary registry of disabled and special needs community members in order for the first responders to be aware of any special circumstances in your home. Links to the registration forms are also included on the attachment. If you do not see a link for your local department, check their website or call them directly for their individual procedures. ILLINOIS DISABLED PERSON IDENTIFICATION CARD Another important piece of documentation available to families is the Illinois Disabled Person Identification Card. Detailed information can be found at the Secretary of State's website: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/idcards.html We hope to see you at an open house!
