Guest guest
I wanted to share with the group a terrific YOGA Studio in Westmont (Cass Ave at Richmond). Ms. Debra practices and teaches Iyengard method yoga. She offers various level sessions, ideal for everyone at any age or level of physical fitness. I started out in her " restorative " session after surgery to regain mobility, flexibility, and lose a little weight. My autistic son , 17 has been going to the Teen session on Mondays at 3:00-4:00. Her technique includes pranayama (breathing), various yoga poses and use of props such as sand bag weights and blankets, etc. Debra's sequence of movements, breathing and poses has been phenomenal in helping my son with his perseveration, sleeping, calming and coping skills. He is also benefitting from the additional side effect of better eating, fitness and posture. It is something that he will continue to practice for the rest of his life. I encourage others (Autistic or otherwise) to call Debra at her studio; now gets solo attention; However, he would benefit even more if others where in the class.
